Daniel is a professional musician and guitarist based in both the North West and Yorkshire. He has been a part of the Prelude team since 2018, fresh from achieving a Distinction in his MRes Master's Degree, and a First-Class Honours Degree in Music from the University of Liverpool.
Daniel has been studying music and playing instruments since primary school age and achieved his Grade 8 in Electric Guitar in 2014. However, his experience in live performance stretches far beyond this. Starting out at a small, weekly jam night session, he began to find work as a dep and session guitarist for various local bands, which he continues to do to this day.
He has been a part of original projects and cover bands over the years, currently focusing on his vintage rock covers outfit Umläut, alongside new ventures including an acoustic duo and a Pink Floyd tribute project. One of his original bands has had music featured on local radio such as ‘BBC Introducing Leeds’, ‘DemonFM Leicester’ and been showcased on ‘Made in Leeds’ television several times; whilst his various cover bands have taken him far and wide, playing everything from local music venues to large-scale charity shows and open-air festivals. The highlight here goes to the summers of 2018 and 2019, where he played as a dep guitarist on a small tour alongside the world-famous Isle of Man TT races, playing 15 dates across 2 weeks, culminating in a 2-hour headline slot of the final night party in front of over 5000 people.
Daniel has experience in both remote and in-person tuition and even began a small guitar-based Instagram page as a lockdown project entitled GuitarByDan. He has taught guitar in and around Merseyside and Yorkshire for almost 10 years and has helped students, ranging from novice to advanced, toddler to retiree, find and develop their confidence, their musical expression and to realise their passion for the instrument.
